About Us
Carmel Casey recently opened the doors of Fleur Furniture in Gladesville with a greatful and thankful response from the community. Showcasing some extraordinary French Provincial & French Country pieces, it is sometimes hard to tell some of the furniture is not 200 years old.
The furniture is like the treasure of the old French Provinces, long forgotten in the darkened attics of ancient residences, where time has stood still...and it is though Fleur Furniture has at last returned them to the light of day, in offering them to their customers complete with this extraordinary patina of age.
The furntiure is produced using 18th century cabinet making techniques, and old recycled wood, for a more natural and high quality product. Several coats of paint have been applied by hand to each piece of furniture, and each coat has been scraped, sanded and aged, to give them all the charm and authenticity of the lengthy caress of the centuries.
From washed pieces with hand painted designs to solid walnut exstension tables with seating for 12, sideboards and Louis furniture, chandeliers, mirrors, pictures, curio's, French Bel Linen Cushions, spreads...there is something to appeal to all tastes and styles.
Ms Casey's family background included interior decorators in ireland and Spain and her flair is proving to be a talking point for Gladesville. "Throughout the centuries, French furniture has taken on many styles and forms and we have taken advantage of this broad spectrum to introduce in store. The pieces continue to be popular today and the store is certainly attracting attention."
